Charlotte Chamberlain

Charlotte Chamberlain, of Jefferies & Company, was interviewed by On24 on July 3, 2002 (following Knight Trading Group's earnings shortfall warning announced earlier that morning). She made the following comments regarding Knight:

"I'd avoid it like the plague. I mean it's certainly too low to short at this point.
My sense is that anyone buying NITE now defines the term irrational exuberance.
This company has fundamental problems. They still haven't bit the bullet on getting out of Europe.
Unless they could find somebody to buy them, I think that this stock just has very, very negative prospects."

NITE moved up more than 11% within a few hours of Charlotte's Buttesque proclamation, closing up for the day. Then on the next trading day (1:00 PM close on July 5) NITE continued to climb, closing 18% higher since Dr. Chamberlain's plague admonition.

November 21, 2002 Update
NITE now 51% higher since that asinine statement was uttered.

July 3, 2003 Update - 1 Year Later
NITE now 102% higher!

September 12, 2003 Update
NITE now 141% higher with another new 52 week high.

October 7, 2003 Charlotte upgrades NITE to Buy from Hold
"Knight pre-announces 70% ahead of consensus and we upgrade the stock after missing the first 288% move. After being wrong so long, why upgrade now?"
